But alas…no snow…
California has been in a drought,
as the rain fell we prayed and hoped for snow.
soft white flakes fell from the gray sky and the air became still.
As the snow continued to fall…
The brown puddles began to disappear…
A white blanket erased the memory of where it had once laid.
I stood there taking it all in, as the rest of the family headed into the cabin.
Could it be that everything becomes…
Fresh
White
Clean
And like new again?
"Grace means undeserved kindness.
It is the gift of God to man the moment he sees
he is unworthy of God's favor."
- Dwight L. Moody
I think that every so often we all need a blanket of snow to fall upon our hearts and minds…
a good prompt of the favor we have been given.
“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.”
John Newton (1725-1807)
Matthew 11: 28-30,
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?
Come to me.
Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.
I’ll show you how to take a real rest.
Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
